Rookery Farm House
The project comprises the conversion and change
of use of an existing Granary building into residential /holiday
accommodation.
Materials and textures were carefully chosen to
connect the design to the traditional buildings of this region
of Suffolk . The internal oak frame was retained and modified to
allow an open ground floor plan with a cellular division of space
on the first floor. A number of existing cast iron elements, including
a window and a staircase, were restored and re-instated.
The granary has a number of sustainable
features including reclaimed brick, flint and oak, sourced locally,
a ground source heat pump connected to an under floor heating system
and water supplied and treated from a private well.
