Lincolnshire
This competition for a life boat station and cafe had
a remarkable and inspiring site overlooking a deep sandy beach
on the east coast. Long range views led to a form developed as
a tower, to acts as a lookout point, contrasted with a curved linear
grounded strip to house the cafe safety boat and ancillary accommodation.
The extreme exposure of the site to wind, especially from the north,
led to the development of the building form to create a protected
outdoor terrace area with views overlooking the beach called an
event platform. The materials of the building were patinated zinc
over a timber frame structure
